confidence well placed

"But blessed are those who trust in the LORD
and have made the LORD their hope and confidence.
They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green
and they never stop producing fruit."
Jeremiah 17:7-9 (NLT)

This week, I've been meditating a lot on God's promises. Despite walking (sometimes crawling) through this season of intense pain and struggle, I have a deep abiding sense of hope.

While I can't explain it, I am extremely grateful for God's promises. Like a tree planted by a river, my spirit is being nourished through His truth which has been planted deep within my spirit.

I know that whether we are in a season of joy or grief, our flesh can really resist taking the time to be with our Creator. There are so many things vying for our attention. So many items waiting on our list to be checked off. Not to mention lots of interruptions every time we try to focus.

On the other hand, once our spirit begins to experience the true nourishment that God's Word provides, we begin to hunger for it. It's a habit that truly reaps future rewards. When the storms of life come, we find that every moment we've spent reading, studying, meditating and memorizing Scripture helps to sustain us.

I know how easy it is to get sidetracked and busy. Spending time with the Lord and reading my Bible are habits that are still being learned. That said, as the winds of struggle begin to pick up, I'm so thankful for every. single. moment. I have spent soaking up God's love and His promises.

Friend, wherever life finds you today, I encourage you to open up your Bible and find one verse that speaks to your spirit. Breathe deeply of all God has for you. Let every pore of your being take it in. Allow it to take root and trust that God will use it to nourish, bless and grow you.

He loves you. He has so many blessings to bestow upon you. Trust in His love and have faith in His promises. They are for you.

Thankful that God's Word allows me to keep LIVING A BLESSED LIFE, even when it's really, really hard.

Walking with Jesus,

Another amazing post, AmyJo!! I needed this one, as these 'habits' which you speak of, are still be learned by myself, as well. It's so easy to let life take over and smother out our quiet time with God...or at least 'rush' it. But that is not where I long to be, as I know it is the Lord who has sustained me through so many of the trying times in my life, and I can't imagine having had to pass through them without Him by my side. It's so important that we purpose to spend time with our's the least of which we can give back to Him...our TIME! <><

love ya,
