happy 4th!

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.
Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves
be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
Galatians 5:1

I am thankful for so many things. While I have only visited three other countries (so far), I am very aware of how greatly our nation is blessed.

To be able to choose to serve my God and worship Him however I please is truly a priceless gift. I cannot imagine not having this freedom.

And yet, still, I would choose Him. Fully and completely.

Most importantly, however, I am thankful that my King has set me free, and that, in Him, I am LIVING A BLESSED LIFE!

Blessed by freedom,

Good pics and good thoughts. I linked over to see if you started the "Injustice" blog yet. What do you have in mind for that? Issues of social justice interest me (I teach ethics for a juco). WB

A lovely post, Amy Jo!

So glad you dropped by Getting Down With Jesus.

Say -- I see from your profile that you're in the process of adopting from Ethiopia. I have a good friend here in Iowa who has children by birth, an adopted boy from China, and just recently adopted three siblings from Ethiopia. You reminded me of her today. (She has a blog, One Family's Journey. Link is on my side-rail, if you're interested.)

Beautiful photos...and you are so right, we are blessed in this country by the freedoms we have to worship God. I pray that I would be bold for Christ even if that were not the case.

Shalom,
Denise

Not just USA but all of North America is blessed to live and worship freely, and how often we forget that. Perhaps that's why it irks me to hear people complain about not liking a worship song that was sung, or the style of preaching, or, or, a hundred other trivial things.

We can shout out the name of our Lord without fear, fot that we should give Him constant praise!

The 4th always brings me to thinking about Genesis, and how God made us to be in such a wonderful and Free garden with HIM, Free to look like Him, Free to be like Him, Free to work along side Him, and Free to love like Him: all while enjoying the rest of Creation with Him. Blast that crafty serpent :-( Yet Gods generous favor has blessed us with our Free America, thank you for this Father, yet our hearts are desperate for You & your Heavenly!!
I've missed you!!

Thanks for the visit and for sharing your thoughts about the Noble and Humble post.

I teach a philosophical ethics course for a junior college. But, I have a lot of leeway, so I actually do a good bit of Christian ethics in it as well. We essential study how people make decisions, the criteria they use, etc. We study philosophers from the time of Socrates to modern times.

Do you FB? I can give you more info there.
