Everywhere I look, I'm seeing wildflowers

I think God must have spoken to my little bird friend about building her nests right after He spoke to me. Since that day, my porch has been clean, as well as the window above my front door. I have a feeling God has been trying to get my attention since last summer when all of this started! I'm so thankful that He is so patient with me (2 Peter 3:15a). The amazing thing is that once I surrendered myself to God - His will and His timing for my life - He began to shower me with His love, grace and peace. (It's amazing how much more you appreciate these attributes after a period of intense stress and turmoil!)

Before my very eyes, I began to see wildflowers appearing everywhere I looked. Beautiful displays of God's creativity and grace began to pop up in the most surprising places. Did you know that wildflowers actually bloom in the Dallas/Fortworth Airport? As I waited to board my plane for the final leg of my trip, I met two of my Creator's most beautiful wildflowers. Tonya from Arkansas and Tara from California. I happened to overhear a portion of their conversation that caught my attention. Without hesitating (which I have to admit is rather unusual for me), I asked them if they were headed to She Speaks in North Carolina.

I was immediately met with big smiles. Wildflowers. Blessings from above, sown into my life long before I even scheduled my flight plans for the conference. You see, these new, precious friendships were actually sown into my life through the faithful prayers of my sweet friend, Sarah. She's been praying for the past 18 months for God to bring like-minded Christian women into my life. And wouldn't you know, when God answers prayers, He doesn't answer in tiny, insignificant ways. He answers BIG, with lavish and extravagant love.

Everywhere I look, I'm seeing wildflowers and the harvest is oh-so-sweet. God is SO good! As we boarded the plane, we began asking each other questions and didn't stop talking until we parted ways at the Charlotte/Concord Airport on Sunday. While we have each experienced many difficult times in our lives, the focus of our conversation was God's grace and love. Both of these women are strong in their faith and trust God's plan for their lives. I felt so blessed that He brought our lives together in such an amazing way. (Oh, and they also happen to love digging into Scripture for deeper understanding-just like me!)

Over the course of the weekend, we shared many conversations, meals and times of worship. God also gave us eyes to see women who came to the conference alone and had not yet made any friends. We felt so blessed by the gift He had so graciously given us that we were anxious to share the joy with other ladies.

The third beautiful lady in the photo is Fawn. Tara's room-mate and my next-door-neighbor. The three of us got stuck on the smoking floor and had the not-so-fun privilege of smelling like we had just snuck out for a quick puff in between classes. (Ugh.) Seriously, she is yet another precious wildflower that God chose to sow in my life and I hope she decides to join us for She Speaks in 2009! It can't come too soon!!!

I'm still processing all that I learned during the weekend, and funny enough, am struggling to find the words to wrap around such a life changing event. Many women have aptly said, "I went to She Speaks and came home speechless." Tara wrote a great post on her blog over at Table-Twenty. I encourage you to pop over there and be blessed. And when you do, you'll see why I think she's one of my most treasured wildflowers!

If you're in the midst of a cold and barren season, I pray that God's love will fill your heart with warmth and give you joy despite your current situation. "Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him." (James 1:12, NIV) Remember, Spring always follows Winter and there are sure to be wildflowers in your near future.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read my blog. I'd love to hear from you, so please leave me a quick comment to let me know you were here. :-) Today and always, I pray that you are joining me in LIVING A BLESSED LIFE!
